Yo, what’s up baseball fans! So, here’s the scoop: the University of Kansas baseball team faced off against Minnesota on Tuesday and it didn’t go so well — they lost 10-6. But guess what? The very next day, the Jayhawks came back swinging and totally crushed the Gophers, 29-1!

Things started rough with Minnesota scoring first in the opening inning. But after that, Kansas turned on the heat! They scored five runs in the second inning and then went absolutely nuts in the third, hitting five consecutive home runs, which is a freakin’ NCAA record!

This wild game wrapped up after seven innings because of the mercy rule. For those not in the know, the mercy rule says if a team is ahead by 10 runs or more, the game can end early — and that’s exactly what happened here.

So, it all kicked off with Chase Diggins blasting a three-run homer in the third inning. Then, Max Soliz Jr., Brady Counsell, Brady Ballinger, and Jackson Hauge followed up with four solo homers, just like that! This was big news because it tied the NCAA record for most homers hit in a row, which is five. The last time this record was set was way back in 2006 by South Carolina against Georgia.

After that crazy third inning, the Jayhawks scored 16 more runs, including eight runs in the fifth alone! And Diggins wasn’t done yet; he hit another homer, a grand slam this time, making it his second big hit of the day.

With a whopping 29 runs on the board, this became the highest score against a Division I team in Kansas history! Plus, that 28-run win is the biggest win margin the team’s ever had.

Now, the Jayhawks are heading back home this weekend to kick off their Big 12 games with a three-match series against Baylor. Can’t wait to see how they do!
